While there weren’t many confirmed deals this morning, we certainly
knew that there were several ongoing talks between players and clubs across the
country and now that we’re into the middle of the afternoon, there is more news
of confirmed deals in and out of Premier League clubs.
28 year old centre half Christopher Samba completed his move
to Queens Park Rangers from Anzhi Makhachkala earlier this afternoon. He is the
ideal signing for QPR given their need for an experienced central defender
after the departures of Anton Ferdinand and Ryan Nelsen. Samba is well known to
English fans for his 5 year spell at Blackburn Rovers between 2007 and 2012 and
that Premier League experience along with his size and strength will be of
great benefit to QPR in their bid to survive the drop. Luciano Becchio’s move
to Norwich City from Leeds United has now been confirmed, the 29 year old
striker has signed a three and a half year deal with The Canaries. Moving in
the other direction as part of the deal is striker Steve Morison who moves to Leeds
after spending a year and a half at Carrow Road. AC Milan’s Dutch midfielder
Urby Emanuelson has signed for Fulham on loan for the rest of the season and
the final major Premier League move that happened earlier this afternoon was 27
year old striker Danny Grahams move to Sunderland for a £5 million fee. It is a
move that will be met with mixed reactions by Sunderland fans given that it is
public knowledge that Graham supported Newcastle United as a boy, but
regardless of that, he is still a good player that can hopefully come up big
for The Black Cats when needed and help them improve on their current mid-table
position in the league.
More deals being worked on but not confirmed include French
defensive midfielder Yacouba Sylla who has just completed a medical with Aston
Villa and his signing should be confirmed in the very near future. 19 year old
England goalkeeper Jack Butland is about to join Stoke City from Birmingham
City for a fee believed to be about £5 million but it is likely that Butland
will stay at Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season to be sure of
guaranteed game time. Another big deal on the verge of being completed involves
former England captain David Beckham who is on the verge of signing for Paris
Saint-Germain. The 37 year old midfielder is currently a free agent after
leaving Los Angeles Galaxy last month. The
French club have arranged a press conference for 4pm local time it would be a
huge surprise if this press conference was about anything else other than
Beckham’s imminent arrival.
Some Premier League departures include Alejandro Faurlin who
has left QPR to join Italian side Palermo on loan for the rest of the season.
Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is on the verge of signing for Bundesliga
side Hoffenheim on loan till the end of the season after Tweeting that he was
on his way to Germany for a medical. There have also been two departures from
Liverpool this afternoon as well, 22 year old striker Dani Pacheco has joined
Spanish second division side SD Huesca on loan for the rest of the season and
33 year old goalkeeper Doni has had his contract cancelled allowing him the
chance to make a free move back to South America.
Due to the amount of deals being done, the posts I make
today will just be confirming the deals and the talks, late tonight or tomorrow
I will post my opinions on the big deals and what signings I think will play a
big part in clubs moving forward. Will be back soon with the late afternoon
review!
